2000 AD SHOWCASE

2000 AD is pleased to announce the launch of a new comic, ‘2000 AD Showcase’, a selection of fan-favourite 2000 AD strips both old and recent, republished in U.S.-style monthly comic book format.

The first story to be published in Showcase (issues #1-4) will be ‘13’, written by Mike Carey (Lucifer, Hellblazer), with artwork by Andy Clarke (Snow/Tiger, Sinister Dexter). The story follows telekinetic punk Joe Bulmer, whose life goes from surreal to worse as he finds himself in the middle of a war of attrition between two phenomenally powerful forces. Helped out by fellow psychic, Daksha Patel, Joe nonetheless discovers that when it all comes down, the only things he has to keep him alive are his limited abilities and his natural bad attitude.

Each of the four issues containing ‘13’ will feature a brand new full colour cover image by Andy Clarke, and the first episode will be published on 30th October, priced Ł1.49 or $1.99 in the USA. The solicitation for the first issue of 2000 AD Showcase can be found on page 346 of the August Previews (October shipping). Future Showcase issues will include the bounty-hunter-in-a-race-against-time story Wardog, no-punches-pulled future war tale Glimmer Rats, and the new hit occult action series Caballistics, Inc.

Jamie Boardman, Showcase Editions editor, says “It is a delight to be able to bring these old and new series to the American audience in a format they’re familiar with. The line-up of stories is punchy and diverse, and I have high hopes for Showcase’s future.”

Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director of publishers Rebellion, adds, “The Showcase editions prove that when you have material as strong as the stories we publish in 2000 AD, they can work in any format, from weekly episodes and graphic novels to US format monthlies. I am very confident that the combination of a familiar format and some of the best writing and artistic talent in the comics industry will enable us to attract a great number of new readers in the US and worldwide”.

The two images shown here are the covers for issues 1 and 2 of '13'.

2000 AD is on sale every Wednesday, priced Ł1.60. The Judge Dredd Megazine is on sale every four weeks, priced Ł3.95.
