Spectrum Emulator Software


How to use the Spectrum Emulator; SpecEmu13.

Download SpecEmu13

Unzip and install the emulator software.

Start SpecEmu.exe by double clicking on the icon.

If you want to play; Rogue Trooper or Strontium Dog

  1. Go to the File option on the toolbar, and choose Load Snapshot
  2. Open the relevant .z80 or .sna file
  3. The program will now load in the view screen at the bottom right of the screen.
  4. To enlarge the screen Press F2 or Choose opstion Z80 on the tool bar and choose run.
  5. To quit the game press Esc
  6. To reset the emulator press F4

If you want to play; Judge Dredd, Nemesis The Warlock or Slaine

  1. Go to the File option on the toolbar, and choose Load Tape
  2. Open the relevant .tap or .tzx file
  3. In the Options menu on the toolbar, choose Model
  4. Select Spectrum 128k
  5. Press F2 to run the program
  6. Ensure that the Tape Loader selection is highlighted and press Enter.
  7. The games will now load. Remember these games are old, and some of them take a long time to load before they are ready.
  8. Be Pure. Be Vigilant. Be Patient.

IMPORTANT KEYS TO REMEBER.

ESC = return to the emulator
F4 = Unload current program
F2 = Increase screen to fullsize

I have not yet been able to play these games with a joystick.

However this does not mean that it is impossible- play around with the emulators and you might be able to get it to work.

The second emulator should also work with most of the games.

However I found EMU13 easier to use and it allowed me to play all the games, with many of them loading instantly.
