Commentary: The second volume of Rogue Trooper opens with the absence of the main weapon in Rogue’s arsenal: his co-creator Dave Gibbons, who was splitting time between Doctor Who and Green Lantern around the time these stories were published. But even without Gibbons, Rogue is well served by Brett Ewins and Cam Kennedy, who are hitting an awesome stride and turning in some incredibly good work, full of excellent designs and building a unique, real world around Rogue during his ongoing search for the Traitor General.
Best of all, though, is the incredibly detailed work by Colin Wilson, whose gritty inking and unmatched use of shading and blacks gives a sense of reality and horror to the war sequences.
This is the second of a planned five collections of Gerry Finley-Day's run on the series; book three is due in October.
