Prologue: Ground Zero - 2000AD prog 535

Berlin: December 21, 1944: World War II is in full swing. The Allied troops are being led into battle by British superhero Maximan, while the German forces have their own supersoldier: Masterman. When the two super-powered soldiers meet up it is the Nazi superman that comes off better. Maximan lies beaten and broken as Masterman gloats over him: “No power on Earth can stop us now.” He was wrong however - the American forces had developed a super-weapon of their own - the A-Bomb - which kills both Masterman and Maximan as it destroys Berlin.
Berlin: June 23, 1987: It’s 42 and a half years later Berlin has been rebuilt. Fräulein Greta Haas meets up with Doctor Driesch and takes him to a secret laboratory, adorned with a Nazi swastika and they prepare to awaken a second Masterman from a cryogenic sleep.
