5: Corridors of Power - 2000AD prog 540

London: May 12, 1987: As Zenith and Ruby walk through Parliament Square they pass a statue of William Whitlock, Maximan. Ruby talks of how she and her fellow Cloud 9 members grew up in his shadow - how they were expected to be patriotic superheroes, but rebelled: became superhippies instead. They enter the Houses of Parliament and meet with Peter St John for lunch. Previously known as Mandala, he was also a member of Cloud 9 but now he’s a Tory MP. However, Peter dismisses Ruby’s story as a “pathetic publicity stunt” and throws them out.
