Schiehallion, Scotland: February 5, 1988: Dr Peyne and his financial backer Scott Wallace are watching video footage of Zenith battling with the robot, which Peyne calls ‘Warhead’. Suddenly a stroboscope causes the robot’s brainwaves to go into seizure, which gives Zenith the opportunity to destroy Warhead; thus ends the video recording. The stroboscope was fired by Phaedra Cale, an American woman working for the CIA. It was her who left the warning answerphone message. She tells Zenith that she can help him find out where his parents have been.
Meanwhile, Wallace is getting restless, worried that it will take Peyne too long to capture Zenith. We learn that Zenith’s dead mother (or at least her eyeballs, in a jar) are up in Scotland with them.
