Schiehallion, Scotland: February 5, 1988: Peyne comes into Wallace’s study. He’s just heard from
Blaze that Zenith is on his way to Scotland. Wallace, wearing a Comic Relief t-shirt, is busy hacking
into the computer system of the HMS ‘Resolve’ - an easy enough task for him as it was his company who designed and
installed the systems in the first place. He re-targets two of the 16 nuclear missiles on board.
HMS ‘Resolve’, the North Sea: February 5, 1988: The operators on board the submarine notice a problem with their
computers. They’ve discovered that the weapons system has gone live and they’ve received a ‘Permission to fire’ signal.
Then they discover that the target is London.
London: February 6, 1988: Superhuman defence minister Peter St John is being interviewed for a TV
news/current affairs programme. He is denying allegations relating to any misuse of his telepathic powers in order to sway
government decisions. Recording of the show is interrupted by a telephone call from Whitehall for St John - warning
him about the nuclear crisis. |
