7: Marching as to War - 2000AD prog 633

Axis Mundi: Alternative 23: The following day the conference reassembles. Maximan says they will be split into two groups. One, led by Ben, will go to Alternative 666; the other, led by Hotspur to Alternative 257. Hotspur gives them an encouraging pep-talk, saying that he is proof that the Lloigor can be beaten. The superhumans are put into the two groups and Zenith wastes no time in complaining about the freaks he’s stuck with in his group. Metamaid makes a pass at him but he’s not convinced, thinking she’s a bit too “Stringfellows” for his tastes.
Ruby goes to Peter, showing off her new youthfulness. She tells him that after the Lloigor have been stopped, they still intend to go forward with the Cloud 9 Plan - and they can teach him to be young again if he joins them. Peter declines. He doesn’t want to be youthful and he is still against the Plan. Zenith just reckons that Ruby’s new look makes her look cute.
The crowd splits, gathering around two Einstein-Rosen Bridges, Hotspur leading his group with confidence, Ben shuffling and nervous. Zenith comments on this and gets an earbashing from a fiesty super-woman fed up with him mocking and insulting everybody. Ben breaks them apart, admitting that he isn’t really a leader - he just wants to stop the Lloigor. The two groups pass though their bridges leaving Maximan alone in the hall.
