Axis Mundi: Alternative 23: Maximan tells Peter and Mantra how he had destroyed this Alternative’s world, killing three billion people and turning it into the featureless desert world that it is now. After doing this, the Lloigor approached him and offered him a place in their ranks. As a test of faith, he tore his own eyes out.
Alternative 230: March 15, 1989: As Ben reaches for the Chaostructor bomb, Ace Hart blasts him and he falls to the floor. As Ace is constructing an Einstein-Rosen bridge, he hears the CHRRAAANG of his Lloigor partner Captain Miracle being finished off. He turns to look, and Ben, charred and injured but not dead, grabs him by the leg, and holds him out of reach of the bridge. Lux, Domino, Ruby and Spook close in on him and kill him. The heroes then turn their attention to the bridge the Lloigor had made.
Axis Mundi: Alternative 23: Mantra tries to reason with Maximan - telling him that the universe cannot work with out the free will and uncertainty the Lloigor want to abolish. He is not convinced, he points to the energy stream, a pillar of light, behind him - and tells her he will soon ascend the stairway to heaven. When she then calls him insane he stabs her eyes out with his fingertips. He breaks her, and flings her aside. Then he turns to Peter; “And now there’s just you. And me.”
