Epilogue: After the Crash - 2000AD prog 670

Alternative 230: March 16, 1989: Oakman and Blue Wizard create a monument to the heroes lost during the missions. Inside, Lux is organising bridges to take everyone back to their home alternatives. Most see their win as a pyrrhic victory, having lost many friends and two worlds. Spook is remarking how it was strange that it was Zenith who came through in the end, when he turns up drinking a can of beer: “Must’ve been Vertex. Sounds like the sort of stupid thing he’d do.” Metamaid makes another pass at Zenith, telling him to meet her in five minutes in the boiler cupboard. Fortunately, Miracleman warns him that Metamaid is in fact a man, so Zenith sends TNT Tom off to the cupboard in his place. Zenith goes up to Peter and asks him what happens now. Peter looks back at the remaining superhumans - Cloud 9 and Black Flag - and replies: “What now indeed?”
