WIN A RIPPING YARN!

Thanks to Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment plus publishers Reynolds & Hearn, this issue's competitition is a bloodstained Jack the Ripper 'double event'! Not only do we have five From Hell DVDs, there are also five copies of Jack the Ripper: The Murders and the Movies, the ultimate reference guide to the original serial killer's screen career, to be won ...

Based on the graphic novel by Halo Jones/DR & Quinch creator Alan Moore in association with artist Eddie Campbell, the terrifying From Hell, starring Johnny Depp and Heather Graham, dissects the notorious Ripper murders which took place in London's Whitechapel in the autumn of 1888. It's available to buy on both DVD and VHS formats from 7 October - the DVD's special features including no less than 23 deleted scenes, plus featurettes and interactive documentaries.

Of course, there's been a long line of Ripper flicks - and in the 240-page Jack the Ripper: The Murders and the Movies, author Denis Meikle examines the background to the murders and their portrayal on film, from silent classics like The Lodger and Pandora's Box right up to From Hell. Published by Reynolds & Hearn (www.rhbooks.com), it normally sells at £15.95 - but you can win one of five sets of both book and DVD by answering a question so simple, you could solve it in the middle of a thick 'pea-souper' ...
